Want to Speak at an AFA Conference?
Share your knowledge. Support education. Strengthen aviculture.
The American Federation of Aviculture invites speakers to submit presentation proposals for consideration at an upcoming AFA Educational Conference.
AFA presentations help educate attendees, support responsible aviculture, highlight conservation and research, and share practical knowledge with the avicultural community.
Current Conference Submissions
AFA is currently accepting presentation proposals for the 2026 AFA Educational Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.
Abstracts will be accepted through June 1, 2026. Please identify your submission as an AFA 2026 Conference Abstract when completing the application.
What to Submit
Presentation proposals should include an abstract of 200 words or less and a brief biographical sketch of 100 words or less.
Abstracts should include the proposed presentation title, presenter name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and any company, organization, aviary, sponsor, or other affiliation.
If more than one person is listed, please identify who will be presenting. Speakers may submit more than one proposal for consideration.
Review & Acceptance
Presentation proposals will be reviewed by the conference speaker committee. Receipt of submissions will be acknowledged, and applicants will be contacted as proposals are reviewed.
Accepted presenters may be asked to provide a current biography, high-resolution photograph, and additional information needed for the conference program or promotional materials.
Speakers are not officially confirmed until all required materials and agreements, including the speaker contract, have been received by AFA.
Presentation Details
Presentations are generally allotted 50 minutes and may include a brief question-and-answer period.
Audio-visual needs will be confirmed during the speaker coordination process. Presenters should be prepared to provide any required presentation materials in advance and bring a backup copy to the conference.
Additional presentation details, room assignments, and schedule information will be shared with confirmed speakers as the conference program is finalized.
Speaker Benefits
Confirmed speakers receive complimentary conference registration and one banquet ticket as a thank-you for contributing to AFA’s educational programming.
Travel, hotel accommodations, guests, and other personal expenses are generally the responsibility of the speaker unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
Any additional speaker support or sponsorship arrangements should be confirmed directly with AFA before the conference.
Watchbird Publication Opportunity
Speakers may be invited to submit an article based on their presentation for possible publication in The Watchbird, AFA’s official journal.
This opportunity helps extend the educational value of conference presentations beyond the event and makes important information available to AFA members and readers.
Article submission details, deadlines, and publication requirements will be provided separately when applicable.
